Diet & Nutrition

Nutrition forms a fundamental part of the healthcare programme we provide at our clinics.  As part of our four-day programme, clients receive some helpful advice on optimising health through nutrition.  Undoubtedly the quality and quantity of the food we eat is central to the physical and emotional health of the body.  With this in mind, therapists offer advice to clients on making simple changes which will not only complement their bio-energy treatment but also gives them the tools to influence and support long-term health and well-being.

Mary Kerin, a qualified Naturopathic Nutritionist (and Plexus Bio-Energy Therapist) works with clients who want detailed nutritional advice.

Eating for Wellness

Our bodies and health reflect what we eat.  For a vibrant healthy body we need to eat whole real food, the correct balance and quality of carbohydrates, proteins and fats, basically a diet that is nutrient-dense with adequate vitamins and minerals. By providing our bodies with immune-boosting and nutrient-dense nourishment, we are building strong healthy cells and immune systems thereby supporting the body’s remarkable ability to heal itself.

As part of our wellness programme we actively encourage our clients to minimise their intake of dairy, wheat and sugar.

Dairy refers to cow’s milk, butter, cheese, yoghurt and cream.  Intolerance to lactose, casein and other components of dairy products is one of the most common forms of modern food allergies. Most people benefit from avoiding commercial milk, which is loaded with antibiotics, hormones and pesticides.  There are many alternatives available including rice, almond, coconut (kava) and soya milk

Wheat  - We encourage our clients to minimise their intake of wheat, substituting with other grains such as oat, buckwheat, quinoa or a less irritant form of wheat such as spelt. In some cases we advise a diet which minimises or excludes gluten – particularly for those dealing with autoimmune conditions. Gluten contains a wide range of biologically active peptides which science now shows can profoundly affect many body systems including digestive, neurological, immune and hormonal.  It is so often the first most critical step on the road to recovery.

Sugar is the biggest contributory factor in the increasing epidemics of obesity; type 2 diabetes and heart disease.  Excess sugar leads to excess insulin levels causing all kinds of health issues.  Continuous cycles of sugar highs and lows lead to irritability, hyperactivity, mood swings, insulin resistance and often culminating in adrenal fatigue. Those serious about their health are advised to minimise sugar in all its forms, remembering sweets, chocolate, cereals, fizzy drinks and alcohol are all high in sugar.

Nutrition Consultations at Plexus Bio-Energy

Over the years Michael and his team have always enjoyed advising clients on other therapies, which would support them in implementing positive changes in their lives.  Nutrition is increasingly at the core of this support as it is unquestionably very powerful in ensuring ongoing and renewed health and vitality.

Plexus Bio-energy and nutrition are similar in their approach, looking beyond the symptoms in a bid to correct imbalances present at the core levels of digestion, inflammation, immunological, hormonal etc.

Nutrition complements Plexus bio-energy therapy by encouraging balance in the body and in doing so ease inflammation or calm an overactive immune system.  The introduction of anti-inflammatory foods and nutrients, for example, can bring remarkable improvement in symptoms for the wide range of conditions exacerbated by inflammation including arthritis, psoriasis, heart disease, asthma and inflammatory bowel disorders.

During comprehensive nutrition consultations, Mary gathers information on diet, lifestyle, health status & other factors. In doing so Mary aims to establish if the quality of food is such that it contains sufficient vitamins and nutrients to encourage healthy processes to be turned on ... not turned off. This integrated approach to wellness also aims to identify and address 'triggers' which lead to ill health. For example recurrent ear infections may arise as a result of an underlying sensitivity to wheat or dairy. In the case of eczema, the conventional approach works by treating the symptoms with the use of cortisone creams for example, whereas our experience has shown it is rooted in the digestive system and consequently rebalancing and soothing the gut leads to sustainable healing and super results.

We look deeper for the cause and educate the patient to make some simple dietary changes, using food as medicine, natural products as healing agents and nutrients and vitamins as components to encourage health. Details of these changes are included in the individualised personal health care programme which Mary and your Plexus therapist develops depending on the particular health problem
